The Sanitary Center "Puerta
del Mar" is constituted for: the University Hospital "Puerta del Mar"
of Cádiz, the Peripheral Center of Medical
Specialties of Cádiz, the Peripheral Center of Medical
Specialties of San Fernando/the Navy Hospital of San Carlos, the Mental
Health Center of Cádiz, the Mental Health Center of San Fernando, the
Foundation for the Investigation "Puerta del Mar" and the Investigation Unit.
The University Hospital
"Puerta del Mar" of Cádiz (Spain) is placed in the
street Ana de Viya number 21 (11009 - Cádiz, Spain), very close to
the Victoria beach , and is part of the Andalusian Service of Health
(Servicio Andaluz de Salud). There gives health care to the Hospitable
Area Cadiz - San Fernando (223.420 inhabitants, approximately). Also, is the
Provincial Hospital of Reference (1.164.374 inhabitants, approximately) for
the following specialties: Plastic Surgery, Maxillofacial Surgery, Nuclear
Medicine, Radiotherapy, Cardiac Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Pediatric Surgery,
Immunology, Genetics, Neonatology, Pediatric Intensive Care, Transplant
Surgery, Neurosurgery, Spinal Surgery and other surgical procedures.
The human resources of the
University Hospital "Puerta del Mar" are 2.615 persons: 399 medical
specialists, 1.455 nurses and 761 exercise other different functions inside
the Hospital.
The Department of Anaesthesiology, Resuscitation and Pain
Treatment is located, to administrative effects, in the second plant of the
Hospital. Our Department is constituted by 36 Anesthetists, 8 Junior Medical
Staff, 25 Nurses, 17 Nurse Assistants and 2 Secretariats. We work in 17
operating theatres, 3 post-anaesthesia care units, a day hospital, a
pre-anaesthesia clinic, a pain clinic, a acute pain service and in the
anaesthesia outside the operating theatre. We can say, for example, that in
our Hospital are practised annually: 35400 surgical interventions, 5700
patients are attended in the post-anesthesia care unit, 80 patients are
transplanted, 649 Caesarean are carried out, 5528 patients consult us in the
Pain Clinic, etc...
